Mrs. Oyinatumba - First Grade and Second Grade

Hello My Name Is..
Mrs. Olivia Oyinatumba

Students

In my classroom, each child is given the opportunity to blossom and bring out their full potentials through reading, writing and math. I utilize whole group, small group and individualized instructional methods to meet the varying needs of my students. Incorporating good morals in my teaching is my everyday practice. I believe that education should be made a priority for kids and that parents should be fully involved in the educational process of their children.

I have an open door policy  that allows both parents and students the opportunity to be involved in the day to day activities in my classroom. Parents are constantly informed of the academic progress and behavior of their children through my weekly progress reports. I hold each student in high esteem and have high expectation for all of them. My utmost goal is to make learning meaningful to my students by using everyday reality as a focus.

I am originally from Nigeria and have been at Ralph J. Bunche since 2009. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in English and Literary Studies from the University of Calabar, Nigeria, and Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico. I am happily married with 3 kids; 2 boys and a girl.
